Companies
A company is a business you sell to. It carries the details a sales team keeps on an account — tax number, address, industry, size, who owns the account, where the relationship stands — and the people who work there, each with their role. Deals belong to companies, and when one of those people writes to you, the conversation shows their company beside the chat.
Open Companies from the left navigation (under CRM). You need the CRM grant (crm.view) to see companies; organizations.manage to create and edit them; organizations.delete to delete them. Admins have all three.
What a company holds
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Name | Required. |
| Domain | Stored without https://, www. or a path, in lower case — https://www.Acme.com/tr is saved as acme.com. Used to recognise the company in imports. If you only give a website, the domain is taken from it. |
| Website, phone, email | Free text; the email must be valid. |
| Industry | Free text. The industry filter lists the industries you use. |
| Employees | A band: 1-10, 11-50, 51-200, 201-500, 501-1000, 1001-5000, 5001+. |
| Tax number and tax office | The Turkish vergi no and vergi dairesi. Spaces, dots and dashes are removed from the tax number. |
| Address | Street, district, city, postcode and country, plus a free-text address line. |
| Account owner | A member of your team. |
| Lifecycle | Lead, Prospect, Customer, Former customer or Partner. |
| Parent company | For a holding and its subsidiaries or branches. A company cannot sit under one of its own subsidiaries, and a chain can be at most ten levels deep. |
| External ID | The company's code in your other system (an ERP's cari kod, a spreadsheet's id). A people import can link by it. |
| Tags | Any unrestricted tag, or a tag restricted to companies. |
| Company fields | Your own custom fields — see below. |
The lifecycle is a fixed list on purpose: the same five words are used by the filters, by the import and by Wiz in every workspace and every language. If you need finer stages, keep them in a company field.
Duplicates
When you save a company whose domain or tax number another company already has, ConnectWiz stops and names that company. You can open it, or choose Save anyway — two branches of one chain may legitimately share a domain.
Company fields
Under Settings → Custom fields → Company you define your own fields for companies, exactly like contact fields: text, number, date, select, yes/no and the other types. A required field must be filled when a company is created. Turn on Show in list to make a field a column in the companies list. Values are checked against their type when you save.
Managing company fields uses the same permission as contact fields (contact_fields.manage).
The companies list
- Search by name, domain, email, website or city, or by an exact tax number.
- Filter by lifecycle (including "no lifecycle set"), account owner ("mine", "no owner" or a member), industry and tag.
- Sort by newest, oldest, name, most people or recently updated.
- Select rows to tag or untag them, set their account owner or lifecycle, or delete them. Each row is checked against your permissions; rows you may not change are skipped.
A company's page
Click a company to open it. You see its details and company fields, its people, its deals, its parent company and its subsidiaries, and its tags. Edit opens the full form.
People and their roles
A person can work with several companies — a consultant with three clients, a buyer who moved to a new employer and still answers for the old one. For each company a person has:
- a role — pick Decision maker, Purchasing, Technical, Finance or Other, or type your own words;
- a title — their job title there;
- whether it is their primary company.
Exactly one company is primary while a person has any. The first company you add becomes primary; to change it, make another company primary. Removing the primary company makes the person's oldest remaining company primary.
On a company's page, under People:
- Add existing contact finds a person by name, email or phone.
- Add new person creates the contact and links them in one step.
- The pencil edits the role, title and primary flag; the bin removes the person from this company (the contact itself stays).
- Import people imports a file of people straight into this company — see Importing companies and people.
On a contact's page, the Companies section lists every company the person works with and lets you add, edit or remove them.
Linking and unlinking change the person, so they need contacts.manage as well as the CRM grant.
The contact API still returns organization_id — it is the primary company.
Setting it through the API makes that company primary and removes the
previous primary link; the other links stay. The full list is in
organizations[].
Company context in conversations
When a person who belongs to a company writes to you, the inbox's contact card shows a Company block: their primary company, its lifecycle and account owner, their role there, how many other people you know at the company (with the first few), its open deals, and the other companies they work with. The block can be moved or hidden like any other section of the card (the gear icon). Members without the CRM grant do not see it.
What Wiz is told
Wiz — and the suggested replies — read one short line about the customer's primary company: its name, lifecycle, industry and the person's role and title there. Never deals, values, the account owner or colleagues: the assistant writes to the customer, and that line contains nothing the customer should not hear about themselves. The line is marked as data, not as an instruction.
To keep your CRM out of the assistant entirely, turn off Tell Wiz the customer's company under Settings → AI assistant. It is on by default.
Searching
The search box at the top of every page (or ⌘K / Ctrl+K) finds both people and companies. Members without the CRM grant only see people.
On the phone
Menu → Companies lists companies with a lifecycle filter. A company's page shows its details, people with their roles, and deals; you can edit the basic fields and the lifecycle, and change a person's role. A contact's profile has the same Companies section, and a conversation's contact sheet shows the company block. Creating companies and importing files is done on the web.
