Etsy
Connect your Etsy shop and three things arrive in ConnectWiz:
- Shop reviews. Every review of your shop lands under Comments, as Etsy — Reviews, grouped under the listing it is about (the listing's picture, title and a link to it on Etsy), with its stars. Reviews are read-only: you answer them on Etsy (see Why reviews are answered on Etsy).
- Orders and refunds. They appear on the buyer's contact card.
- Your shop's policies. The shop's rating, vacation mode and its shipping, payment, refund and privacy policies are one click away on the channel.
Etsy's API has no messaging at all: Etsy conversations cannot be read or answered by any integration, ours included (see Why there are no Etsy messages). Its API also has no way to answer a review. ConnectWiz asks Etsy for read access only and never changes anything in your shop.
Before you start
- Plan. Etsy is a standard channel, not a premium one: it uses one ordinary channel slot. Etsy's terms do not allow charging for something Etsy gives its sellers for free, so there is no Etsy add-on. See Plans and subscription.
- The account that owns the shop. You sign in to Etsy during connecting. Use the Etsy account that owns the shop; an account without a shop cannot be connected.
Connect
- Go to Settings → Channels → Add channel → Etsy (shop reviews).
- Read What Etsy does not allow.
- Choose Import history: Don't import (new activity only) (the default), Last 7 days, Last 30 days or Last 90 days. History is imported quietly. It sends no notifications and Wiz writes no drafts for it.
- Press Connect with Etsy. Etsy's own consent screen opens. It lists what ConnectWiz may read: your shop and your orders. Allow it.
- Etsy sends you back to Settings → Channels, where a message says Etsy shop connected.
If Etsy sends you back with an error instead, the message says why:
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| You declined Etsy's consent screen | Start again and allow access on Etsy's screen. |
| This Etsy account has no shop | Sign in to Etsy with the account that owns the shop. |
| This Etsy shop is already connected to another workspace | One Etsy shop can be connected to one ConnectWiz workspace. Disconnect it there first. |
| Your plan has no free channel slot for another channel | Free a channel slot or change your plan, then connect again. |
| The connection took too long and expired | Start again; the consent screen must be completed within 15 minutes. |
Reviews in Comments
New reviews arrive within about an hour, under Comments → Etsy — Reviews, grouped under the listing the buyer bought. Each review shows:
- its stars (1–5) and text, and the photo the buyer added, if any;
- Edited when the buyer changed the review after posting it;
- Buyer's identity hidden by their Etsy privacy settings when Etsy does not say who wrote it.
Use the star filter to find the low ratings first.
Why reviews are answered on Etsy
Etsy's API has no way to answer a review. No integration can post an answer for you, so ConnectWiz does not pretend to: an Etsy review has no reply box, no Hide, no private message and no like. In their place the review says:
Etsy doesn't let apps answer reviews. Answer it on Etsy — once, it can't be edited there.
Two buttons go with it: Answer on Etsy opens your shop's reviews page in Etsy's Shop Manager, and Open the listing opens the product.
Wiz still helps. Press AI draft and Wiz writes an answer. The draft is shown read-only with a Copy draft button — there is no send button, because there is nowhere to send it. Copy the draft, check it, and paste it into your answer on Etsy. Etsy lets you answer a review once, and the answer cannot be edited afterwards, so read it carefully before you post it there.
In the comment AI settings, an Etsy channel offers only Suggest a reply for approval. Automatic public replies and automatic DMs are not offered, and the server keeps them off.
Why there are no Etsy messages
Etsy's Open API does not include Etsy's conversations (Messages) at all — neither reading them nor answering them. This is Etsy's decision, not a missing feature in ConnectWiz, and it applies to every tool that connects to Etsy. Messages from your Etsy buyers stay in Etsy. When a buyer also writes to you on another channel, ConnectWiz can still recognise them (see One customer, every channel).
Orders and refunds on the contact card
Once connected, ConnectWiz keeps a copy of your Etsy orders. On a contact's profile, the Orders tab shows:
- their Etsy orders, with the status in your language (Open, Paid, Shipped, Delivered, Cancelled, Refunded, Partially refunded);
- their Etsy refunds.
Orders arrive through Etsy's notifications as they happen, and a check every six hours catches anything a notification missed.
What Etsy's terms forbid, and how ConnectWiz enforces it
Etsy's API terms limit what an app may do with your Etsy data. ConnectWiz enforces each limit for you:
| Etsy's rule | What ConnectWiz does |
|---|---|
| Apps may not send order, shipping or tracking details to buyers. | No Etsy order, shipping or tracking detail is sent to a buyer on any channel — not by Wiz, not by a flow, not by the website chat. Wiz never shares Etsy order details with customers. Your agents still see the orders on the contact card. |
| Etsy data may not be used for marketing. | People known to you only through Etsy are never included in campaigns (broadcasts, e-mail or SMS campaigns, call campaigns) — whatever the campaign's filters say. Someone who has also written to you on another channel, or given you their own consent, follows that channel's rules. |
| Etsy data may not be used to train models or for analytics beyond the service. | No Etsy data is used for AI training or analytics. When Wiz drafts an answer to a review, its prompt contains only the review's text and its stars — not the buyer's orders, not your shop's policies. |
| Data must be kept fresh. | Shop details are kept for at most a day; reviews and orders are re-read on the schedule below. |
The channel's Etsy's rules card repeats these lines, and says whether Etsy has granted ConnectWiz access to buyers' e-mail addresses.
One customer, every channel
An Etsy buyer and the person who messages you elsewhere are often the same person. Etsy shares less about buyers than other marketplaces, so ConnectWiz joins them only in these ways:
- By Etsy buyer. Every review and order of the same Etsy buyer is filed under one contact.
- By e-mail, only if Etsy allows it. Etsy grants access to buyers' e-mail addresses per application. If it has (the channel says Buyer e-mail access: granted by Etsy), a contact with the same e-mail on another channel is joined. Otherwise e-mail is not used.
- Never by phone. Etsy shares no phone number, so an Etsy buyer is never matched to a WhatsApp or phone contact automatically.
- By order number. Open their profile → Orders → Link an Etsy order and enter the order number the customer gave you — Etsy's Order #. Wiz can do the same in a conversation, but only after the customer confirms the order is theirs with the name, postal code or e-mail on the order.
How often things update
Etsy sends no notification for reviews, so ConnectWiz asks on a schedule:
| What | How often |
|---|---|
| New reviews | Every hour |
| All reviews of the last 90 days (to catch edits and removals) | Once a day |
| New and changed orders | As they happen, through Etsy's notifications |
| Order check (anything a notification missed) | Every 6 hours |
Sync now on the channel's Connection tab runs the review and order checks immediately.
The shared Etsy request budget
Etsy limits how many requests one application may make per day, and every ConnectWiz workspace's Etsy shop uses the same application. So the budget is shared by every Etsy shop connected to ConnectWiz. The Etsy request budget card on the channel shows it: Available, Running low, Used up or Not measured yet, with the requests left today. When it is used up, all Etsy shops pause together and resume on their own at the time shown. Nothing is lost; reviews and orders are fetched when syncing resumes.
Shop profile and policies
On the channel's Connection tab, Show shop profile and policies shows the shop's rating, vacation mode, currency and languages, its policies in the shop's own words (welcome, payment, shipping, refunds, additional terms, privacy) and its return policies. It is read from Etsy when you open it and marked As of the time it was read. It is for your agents only: none of it is given to Wiz.
Reconnecting
Etsy stops accepting a connection when:
- access is removed in your Etsy account settings, or
- the connection goes unused for 90 days.
The channel then shows Reconnect Etsy in the channel list and Etsy needs you to reconnect on its Connection tab. Until you reconnect, orders stop arriving; reviews keep coming, because Etsy shares them publicly. Press Reconnect with Etsy, sign in with the same shop and allow access. The message Etsy shop reconnected confirms it; the channel keeps its reviews and orders.
Etsy trademark notice
Etsy requires this notice, in its exact words. It is shown on the connect screen and on the channel's Connection tab:
The term 'Etsy' is a trademark of Etsy, Inc. This application uses the Etsy API but is not endorsed or certified by Etsy, Inc.
For the same reason ConnectWiz never shows Etsy's logo: an Etsy channel wears a plain shop icon.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause |
|---|---|
| No reply box on an Etsy review | Expected. Etsy's API cannot answer reviews; use Answer on Etsy. |
| New reviews take up to an hour | Etsy sends no notification for reviews; they are checked every hour. Sync now checks at once. |
| Nothing new arrives and the quota card says Used up | The shared Etsy budget is spent. Syncing resumes on its own at the time shown. |
| The channel says Reconnect Etsy | Access was removed in Etsy or went unused for 90 days. Press Reconnect with Etsy. |
| A buyer's orders don't show on their card | Etsy shares no phone number, and e-mail only if Etsy granted it. Use Link an Etsy order. |
| Wiz did not tell a buyer where their Etsy order is | Expected. Etsy's terms forbid sending order, shipping or tracking details to buyers. |
