SMS and İYS
This page explains how ConnectWiz sends SMS through your own gateway, how a customer's reply reaches the inbox, what a backup provider does, and how commercial SMS stays inside İYS (İleti Yönetim Sistemi), Türkiye's consent registry for commercial messages.
Your SMS gateway
You connect your gateway under Settings → SMS: Twilio, Netgsm, Verimor or İleti Merkezi. Each SMS channel under Settings → Channels sends through that gateway from its own sender: a number, or an approved name (header).
- A reply leaves from the channel's own sender. When an agent or Wiz answers an SMS conversation, the message goes out from the number or header of the channel the customer wrote to — not from your gateway's default.
- A conversation never uses the platform's gateway. Without your own gateway, a reply to a customer fails and the inbox shows it as failed. It is not sent under ConnectWiz's sender, which your customer would not recognise. One-way notices (login codes, booking reminders, offline notices) can still use the platform gateway as before.
Where to find your credentials
The form under Settings → SMS asks each provider for its own details and tells you where to find them:
| Provider | What you enter | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Netgsm | Usercode, password, sender header | Netgsm portal → Ayarlar → API İşlemleri: create an API sub-user. The usercode is your subscriber number. |
| Verimor | Username (subscriber number), API password, sender header | Verimor OİM: create an API password. |
| İleti Merkezi | API key, API hash, sender header | İleti Merkezi panel: turn on API kullanımına izin ver. |
| Twilio | Account SID, auth token, sender number or Messaging Service SID | Twilio console. |
Approved sender names
For Netgsm, Verimor and İleti Merkezi, Approved sender names shows the headers the provider itself has approved for your account. Press Read from provider to read the list again after the provider approves a new name. The list is the provider's word, not something you type, and the backup provider relies on it (see below).
Two-way SMS
A customer can only reply to a number, never to a name.
Netgsm
If your Netgsm SMS channel sends from your Netgsm subscriber number, replies to it arrive in the inbox as conversations.
- ConnectWiz reads new messages from Netgsm with your own API credentials every minute. Netgsm's push notifications are not signed, so they are not trusted; reading them ourselves is what keeps strangers out of your inbox.
- Netgsm hands each incoming message out only once. If none of your SMS channels sends from your subscriber number, ConnectWiz does not read the inbox at all, so nothing is lost.
- Incoming SMS must be switched on for your number in the Netgsm portal (SMS Hizmeti → İnteraktif SMS).
Verimor
A Verimor channel sending from your Verimor number receives replies the same way. Verimor can also notify ConnectWiz the moment something arrives: copy the address under Address for Verimor notifications into Verimor OİM, in the SMS settings, for delivery reports and incoming SMS. Verimor does not sign these notifications either, so a notification only makes ConnectWiz read the message or the delivery report back with your own credentials. Without the address, ConnectWiz still reads Verimor on its own schedule.
Verimor's documentation says campaigns sent through its API cannot use a
numeric sender. Whether a reply from your Verimor number is accepted has not
been measured on a live account; if Verimor refuses it, the inbox shows
numeric_sender_not_allowed.
İleti Merkezi
İleti Merkezi cannot receive replies on your number — its incoming messages arrive only on a shared short number with a keyword, which is an opt-out road, not a conversation. SMS channels on İleti Merkezi are one-way, and the form says so.
Delivery ticks
Sent messages — conversation replies and campaign SMS — are checked with the
provider for up to three days, and the tick turns to delivered or failed.
When a message fails, the inbox or the campaign shows the reason the provider
gave — for example iys_rejected when İYS stopped it.
A backup provider
Under Settings → SMS → Backup provider you can add a second account, on the same or another provider. Turn on Use a backup provider, enter its credentials, save, and press Read from provider to load its approved sender names.
The backup sends a message only when all of these hold:
- the message is a login code, an in-chat identity code, a booking reminder or an offline notice — never a conversation reply, a campaign or an ad-lead SMS;
- your main provider certainly did not accept it: it could not be reached, it was down, it rate-limited the request or ran out of credit. A message the main provider may already have queued is never sent a second time;
- the same sender name is approved on the backup too, so the person still gets the code from the name they know.
If the main provider keeps refusing messages, ConnectWiz treats it as down for a few minutes and sends these notices straight through the backup; the main account shows This provider kept refusing messages and is treated as down until ….
The backup is also a full second account: an SMS channel on the backup's provider sends and receives through it. When both accounts are on different providers, the SMS channel form asks which provider a new channel uses.
Commercial SMS and İYS
The İYS filter is always on
Campaign SMS and the automatic SMS to a new ad lead are commercial
messages. They are always sent with the provider's own İYS filter — Netgsm's
iysfilter, Verimor's commercial flag and İleti Merkezi's İYS check — for the
person's İYS list (see The İYS list of a contact below), so a number that refused on İYS is stopped by the operator before delivery.
Every other SMS — a reply to a customer, a login code, the in-chat identity
code, a booking or offline notice — is sent as informational and is not held
up.
This is a legal requirement, so there is no switch to turn it off. The İYS panel shows it as Commercial SMS always goes through İYS.
The filter needs İYS to be set up on your provider account. If the provider
answers iys_brand_missing, iys_filter_not_permitted or
iys_ahs_not_authorised, define your İYS brand code with the provider, or
authorise the provider on İYS as your integrator.
Consent in your own records, on every gateway
When Enable İYS integration is on, a commercial SMS also needs marketing consent in your contact records — on every gateway, including Twilio, which has no İYS filter of its own. A contact without consent is skipped and the campaign shows why. An ad lead who ticked the consent box on the ad form is reached; one who did not is not sent the SMS.
How ConnectWiz reaches İYS
Under Marketing → İYS, Connect to İYS through chooses the road:
- My own İYS API account — the default. İYS gives direct API access only to businesses with 250,000 or more contact addresses; you enter your İYS code, brand code, username and password.
- Netgsm (NetİYS), Verimor or İleti Merkezi — through the SMS provider you already use. ConnectWiz uses that provider's SMS account under Settings → SMS, so add it there first. Netgsm and İleti Merkezi also need your brand code; Verimor ties the brand to your sender header in its own portal.
ConnectWiz does not yet write consents to İYS through Netgsm, Verimor or İleti Merkezi; this waits on a legal review. Until then the panel says so, and you manage consents in your provider's own panel. Refusals made on İYS are still read back and applied in ConnectWiz.
Changes made on İYS reach ConnectWiz
People can refuse commercial messages directly on İYS. ConnectWiz learns about it in three ways, and in every one it acts only on what İYS answers when asked with your own credentials — never on a notification alone:
- Notifications. With Netgsm or Verimor, copy the address under Address for İYS change notifications into Netgsm (Dijital Servisler → NetİYS → Webhook) or into Verimor OİM as the İYS push address. A notification makes ConnectWiz check that person (Netgsm) or read Verimor's daily İYS report.
- Delivery reports. When the operator stops a campaign SMS because of İYS, ConnectWiz checks that number on İYS before the next message.
- The nightly check. Every night ConnectWiz asks İYS about the consents you hold (Verimor cannot answer for one person, so with Verimor the daily report is read instead).
In all three:
- a refusal on İYS (RET) closes that channel in your records;
- an approval on İYS (ONAY) never opens consent in your records — only the person's own action does that;
- a general consent is checked type by type (email, SMS, call), and a refusal closes only that type.
Marketing → İYS shows the last check, how many consents were checked, how many refusals were applied, and — if the check failed — why. If it keeps failing, your workspace admins also get an email, at most once a day.
The İYS list of a contact
İYS keeps two lists: individuals and merchants. Your default is set under Marketing → İYS. A contact who is a merchant can be moved to the other list on the contact's edit form under İYS list: Workspace default, Individual (Bireysel) or Merchant (Tacir). The list is used when the consent is written to İYS, when it is checked, and when a campaign SMS is filtered.
When a consent cannot be written to İYS
Consent changes are written to İYS automatically. A bulk change goes to the provider in one request where the provider accepts that. If İYS cannot take a change, it is retried. İYS does not accept a consent dated more than three days back, so:
- inside three days, ConnectWiz keeps retrying;
- past three days, the change is marked as missed, and the panel asks you to collect a fresh consent from those contacts.
Syncing opt-outs to your provider's blocklist
Add opt-outs to the provider blocklist under Settings → SMS is off by default. When it is on and a contact withdraws SMS marketing consent, the number is also added to the blocklist of your SMS providers (Netgsm, Verimor, İleti Merkezi).
A provider's blocklist stops every SMS to that number from your account, including login codes and replies to the customer. If the person consents again later, remove the number in the provider's own panel; ConnectWiz does not lift blocks.
